It's been a very rough day per Michelle's standards. I started off with an appointment with my ADHD doctor. My lab work (spit/pee test) came back and overall, it was fairly decent. The one thing the doctor expected to see off the charts was normal. The Yo GABA-GABA, (actually just the GABA, but I like saying Yo GABA-GABA) was very low and my Cortisol was above normal during the evening hours. I've got some nice supplements that I'll need to take to help with the adrenal and neurotransmitter issues. I go back in a month.
After leaving the ADHD appointment, I got a call from the Wound Care Center to let me know they could see me at 1:00. I thought I would never get out of that place. However, the very cute male nurse and the doctor were incredible. The wound was cleaned out - I don't want to talk about the intense pain - and it was dressed with some packing stuff put in the wound - I don't want to talk about that either. My own stash of supplies will be sent to my house and the dressing will require changing every 3 days. Who wants to volunteer for that chore? And, I go back for a follow-up next week. I was instructed to rest and take it easy. After I expressed to him that I "had" to get 10,000 steps a day, I again was instructed to rest and take it easy. He suggested keeping my activity less than 30 minutes at a time and recommended no more than two 30 minute sessions until the leg heals. Then I heard that "toes aboave the nose" thing again. Wonder how that would go over in a staff meeting? Of course, I went through the "Bummer! Why me? Ugh!" pity party again.
I guess I will listen to this doctor since I haven't been listening to anyone else who has been telling me to chill. I will need to adjust my expectations on my goals ever so slightly or I'll be sidelined longer.
My personal goals for this week are:
- Up at 5:00am to hit the treadmill: No treadmill this morning since I could barely walk.
- Get a minimum of 70k steps (see my tracking sheet): Until I get better, I am decreasing my step goal to 5-6k. This will be normal walking around and maybe a couple of short sessions on the treadmill. Today's steps are less than 4k since I was laid up on a hospital table all afternoon. I keep thinking that if I don't up the steps soon, I'll end up having to do 30k steps a day. (insert exaggeration symbol here).
Complete week 1 of the 30 Day Plank Challenge:On hold- Drink 100+ ounces of water daily - no coffee, no Coke Zero - just H20: No water today...ended up with 2 Iced Coffees and a Large Coke Zero. Nerves got the better of me.
- Eat clean and stick to the menu plan: I did not cook today. Grabbed a bagel on the way to the doctor's appointment and then tonight, we got Zaxby's since I did not feel up to standing in the kitchen fixing dinner and then cleaning. (see my food log/menu plan)
- Cook at home every night: See #5
- Log all food on TwoGrand: Snapping pictures of my food did not even cross my mind today.
- Personal reading:
- Moll Flanders (finish reading): 70% completed
- The Postman Always Rings Twice
- Of Mice and Men
- 150 pages in The High Seminary - (program goal)
- Meet with CU4Health counselor to get my health assessment - Thursday (program goal)
- Menu planning for the rest of July and get shopping list together for a Costco run on Saturday
